Katie, Craig, and Mikey are the final three members of a cult that has prepared for years to achieve transcendence by stepping through a portal. After completing their final duties, the trio enter the portal... only to find themselves back at the start of the previous day. In an attempt to complete their transcendence, the trio must figure out why they are unable to get through the portal as their fellow cult members did. Will adhering closely to the cult’s teachings help them finally achieve perfection, or will they need to learn more about themselves – and each other?

A new feature film from Evening Squire Productions that premiered in September of 2024

A deadpan comedy fantasy about three cult members stuck reliving the day they are meant to transcend, forced to question belief, community, and themselves. As faith glitches, so do they. Prickly, funny, and quietly existential. A lo-fi, character-driven spiral into self-awareness.

What the reviewers are saying about the film

Bill Arceneaux, MovieGoing with Bill

And Through The Portal We Go rests comfortably alongside my favorites of the fest. Watching such seething annoyances filtered through the lens of death was a pure delight.”

Mark the Movieman

“This is a really comforting film that also makes you think, and also makes you reflect, thanks to the performances of all three of these characters"

Summer Brooks, Slice of SciFi

“This film is what independent filmmaking is all about. Telling a different kind of story, a unique perspective on something so mundanely bizarre or bizarrely mundane.”
